Shannon E-Session

Today we did a session with Shannon and her fiancee at Phipps Conservatory and The University of Pittsburgh. They were so much fun that I just cant explain. I will let the photos tell the story.

I can not wait to shoot your wedding next year! But in the mean time, enjoy your engagement photos.

Sara & Charles

Well its another week and another fantastic wedding! Two years ago we did Tiffany and Josh Duffy’s wedding. Today, we did Tiffany’s younger brother’s wedding here in Pleasant Hills at The George Town. I have to say this family sure knows how to throw a party, they are so much fun to work with!

Sara and Charles, thanks for such a fun evening. Enjoy your honeymoon and I look forward to sharing the rest of the images with you soon!

For now, here are a few from today…

Time Machine for Mac Users - Photographer Tip

So tip #1 is for all the mac users reading my blog.

So, time machine, one of the coolest backup utilities I have ever used. It is easy to use, easy to setup and did I mention it was easy?!?!

So tonight I was editing and when I was done I did my normal backup then let time machine do it’s seperate backup. Then while it was backing up I was wondering how good this time machine is. So after I verified I had 3 backups of my work plus time machine (yes I know 3 backups is a bit much but I want my client work to be safe) I decided to give time machine a test of it’s own.

So what I did was deleted a client folder that I was completely done with, but also had 3 backups of just in case. I then restarted my computer, did some more work then deleted some more items.

I then figured, ok let’s see how time machine works with getting this back. So I enter into the time machine backups and there was the deleted files. Not only were they there but there were multiple versions that went back to the original files and to all of the edited versions. As I dug deeper I found things that were 2 months old and I was able to get them back. Not only could I get them back, but it only took an hour to recover a 50 gig folder.

So in conclusion from my experiment, I decided that time machine is the best and if my system ever crashed and I lose client files, I can get them back in no time. I am very glad to be a mac user. I highly recommend you get an external vdrive for your mac and let time machine do wonders for your mac. This isn’t just a feature for photographers, but a feature for any mac user. If this isn’t enough reason to become a mac, then I don’t know what is.

Photographer Tips

So I was thinking tonight as I was working on some weddings and playing with my Apple computers. Yes I know, thinking this hard this late leads to no sleep and bad health. But I’m a nite person, always have always will.

But what I was thinking was how cool it is that I am going to start posting tips for brides and helping them out with their wedding planning. But how much cooler would it be if I also gave some photography tips and some basic computer tips to help everyone out?

So if your my competition and your reading this, I know what your thinking. Woohoo your getting the inside scoop ok how we do things at my studio. Yeah not so much! These are going to be things we should know to do as professional photographer but most common people don’t know. But your more than welcome to call me and meet up and discuss photography with me if your my competition. I don’t mind helping other photographers out.

So what I decided to do is post a short tip anytime I thought of something that I feel will help you out. Especially since i can post from my iphone. Check back often for updates.

First Post From My iPhone

So as a lot of you know, the iPhone 2.0 software came out a few weeks ago along side the 3g iPhone. Of course me being the techie I am, I got the new phone and a ton of cool software.

With the new software, a lot of developers are creating some really cool software like this new wordpress software. I can post right from my phone and provide llive updates anywhere in the world.

So with that said, I want to make this first post informational for the brides and explain what is to come in the upcoming months. We will be adding a section for brides to go to get tips while planning their wedding, find current promotions, and find other wedding vendors for your special day.

Our current promotion for the remainder of July is a free engagement session or extra hour of photography on your wedding day with the booking of your wedding package. Book now for your 2009 wedding as this promotion ends August 1, 2008.

Thanks
Nick

Today we went to Ogelbay and shot Charla and Larry’s engagement session. They are getting married very soon and we can not wait to do their wedding. We had so much fun in West Virginia today. I am glad we made it before the rain came.

Here are a few from todays session.

See you guys real soon!!!

Jen and Tom

Yesterday was a hot one coming in at 93 degrees. I give all the credit to the guys wearing the long coats and working with us in the hot weather.

Jen and Tom were so much fun to work with and I can not wait to start editing this wedding. but just from going through a few images, here are 3 of my favorites from yesterday. Jen and Tom got married at Saint James Catholic Church in Sewickley and we went to the Overlook on the West End.

We wish Jen and Tom the best of luck with their marriage and we will see you again very soon when we do your cousins wedding.

Thanks

Nick

Wedding Butterflies

So I have been shooting weddings for a while now, well over 100+ weddings and still to this day I get the before wedding butterflies. Not because I am nervous, I love photographing weddings! I get a tickled feeling because I am so excited to capture one of the most important days of two people’s lives. I don’t start until 4 today, so I am waiting anxiously to go shoot.

I know today will be a fun-filled evening with lots of fun people to photograph. Check back tomorrow for some sample shots from the wedding.
